Q: Is the industrial-grade wireless router easy to use in mountainous areas?

Answer: If you want to use an industrial router in a mountainous area, you need to determine the strength of the local 4G signal. If you are in a remote mountainous area, because there are fewer base stations, the signal is weak, which will affect the stability of the industrial router when transmitting data. If the 4G signal is stuck or the network is disconnected intermittently in the middle, it will cause the transmission terminal of the industrial router and affect the progress of the entire project.

It may be ideal to use industrial routers in mountainous areas with villages or residential areas. In an inhabited environment, the supplier will build enough base stations to ensure the normal use of 4G signals. As long as the strength of the 4G signal is stable enough, the use of industrial routers for networked transmission will proceed stably.

Q: Can 4g industrial routers be used at sea?

Answer: The use of industrial routers at sea is similar to those used in mountainous areas. You need to determine the strength of the 4g network signal first. The strength of the local 4g signal has a certain relationship with the number of base stations and the interference of sea water. If the 4G signal is stable, industrial routers can be used for network transmission.

Q: How about using industrial routers underground?

Answer: Industrial routers are best used in an open and unobstructed environment because of low interference; or in a commercial environment because there are many base stations and the signal is stable. When used in an underground environment, there will definitely be factors such as underground distance, soil mud and other factors that will interfere with the signal. If the 4G signal in the test well is stable, the industrial router can be used normally. If the 4G signal is unstable, it can be backward compatible with 2/3G to ensure stable data transmission. However, the cellular network is unstable, and it is useless to use any networking equipment.

Q: Can industrial wireless routers be used in tunnels?

Answer: The use of industrial routers in tunnels and underground environments is similar, and both soil layers or stones interfere with the signal. Usually the tunnel is on the ground, and the signal is better than underground. If the tunnel is too long to hinder the penetration of the signal, then consider using a routing relay as an extension method for networking. The industrial router can also be used for network transmission.

Question: It is also a cellular network, why is there no NB-IoT industrial router, but usually a 4G wireless industrial router?

Answer: Although NB-IoT and 4G are cellular networks, NB-IoT has much lower power consumption than LTE. 4G supports large-scale connection density, low device power consumption, low latency and provides wide coverage. NB-IoT is characterized by improved indoor coverage (with stronger penetration), support for a large number of low-throughput devices, low latency sensitivity, and ultra-low equipment costs.

In short, NB-IoT is suitable for transmitting textual data with small bytes, while industrial routers are suitable for transmitting network data with large bandwidth such as video surveillance. So based on the NB-IoT network, there are modules and DTU devices, but no industrial routers.

Question: It is also a cellular network device, is it suitable to use an industrial router or a DTU on an ATM machine?

Answer: You can choose the appropriate networking equipment according to your specific needs. If only basic data is transmitted on the ATM machine, you can choose GPRS/3G/4G module or DTU equipment to meet the demand. Among them, the module is used for embedded development, and DTU is suitable for directly connecting to the chassis.

If ATM needs to transmit data with higher security, it needs to use encryption protocol or VPN dedicated channel transmission, you can use industrial router or DTU with router and VPN function.

If you need to connect a network camera to transmit real-time video surveillance status, you can only consider 4G industrial routers to complete the demand. Because industrial routers are suitable for transmitting data with larger bandwidth, and DTU is suitable for transmitting data with smaller bytes.
